{"id":240,"date":"2026-03-09T15:40:17","date_gmt":"2026-03-09T14:40:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tbm2026paris.org\/?p=240"},"modified":"2026-03-09T15:40:17","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T14:40:17","slug":"adapting-mbt-for-brief-family-focused-support-for-school-age-children-in-the-uk-challenges-and-opportunities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tbm2026paris.org\/index.php\/2026\/03\/09\/adapting-mbt-for-brief-family-focused-support-for-school-age-children-in-the-uk-challenges-and-opportunities\/","title":{"rendered":"Adapting\u00a0MBT\u00a0for\u00a0brief,\u00a0family-focused\u00a0support\u00a0for\u00a0school-age\u00a0children\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0UK:\u00a0challenges\u00a0and\u00a0opportunities"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]With a significant rise\u00a0in\u00a0mental health problems among\u00a0children\u00a0and\u00a0young people, more\u00a0and\u00a0more\u00a0children\u00a0(aged 6-12) with mental health difficulties\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0UK\u00a0are being seen by early\u00a0intervention or school-based mental health\u00a0support\u00a0teams.\u00a0The\u00a0children\u00a0often present with a mix of emotional (internalising)\u00a0and\u00a0behavioural (externalising) problems,\u00a0and\u00a0services are usually only set up to provide relatively\u00a0brief\u00a0interventions.\u00a0There is\u00a0therefore an urgent need\u00a0for\u00a0relatively\u00a0brief, transdiagnostic\u00a0interventions that can be effectively delivered by a wide range of practitioners, many of whom have limited training.<\/p>\n<p>The Emotion Regulation in Children (ERiC) Study was set up to evaluate a brief, flexible model of MBT, adapted for children with emotional and behaviour problems (and their families). In this workshop, we will briefly describe the study and its background, give an overview of the adapted MBT model itself, and share some of what we\u2019ve learned from trying to train practitioners in this brief MBT model and implement it in public mental health services.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<strong>Presenters<\/strong> &#8211;
